What to expect from the 3 days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes
Pick up from your hotel/Riad in Marrakech at 08:00 am and have a nice drive through the dramatic Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2260m) over the impressive High Atlas Mountains, appreciating the beauty of the landscape on the winding road through the Berber villages.
Arrive at the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, a UNESCO matrimonial historical site that is now a house of many Glaoui family members. We will have lunch at the Kasbah and continue to Dades Gorge via Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa” crossing the road of the thousand Kasbahs with its fascinating sandcastles and Kalaat Mgouna, the roses city” known for its annual festival during the rose harvest in May, and then continue to our hotel in the heart of the Dades Gorge.
After breakfast in the hotel, we will drive back through the valley. to see the amazing rock formation “the monkey toes”, and the still-standing 19th century Kasbah of Ait Yul. We leave the Dades valley towards Tinghir and the Todra valley, enjoying the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley.
On arrival to the Gorge, we will walk under the 300m high red cliff. where many Rock-climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. We continue our trip to Erfoud and Rissani where we have lunch. Afterward, we leave for the village of Merzouga where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you check into your Hotel.
Early wake up in the morning, attend the miraculous view of the sunrise over the golden sand dunes. After breakfast, we will resume our 3 days Marrakech to Fes desert tour by driving north to Fes passing by the palm valley of Ziz where we will take pictures.
After lunch near Zaida, we will include a short break in the UNESCO-listed cedar forest of the Middle Atlas Mountains that hosts a colony of “Barbary Macaques”. Stretch your legs in the charming city of Ifrane before reaching Fes in the evening.
